Matthiasson is an incredible producer. Under the radar is not accurate as they are lauded by the specialist wine press. Underrated is not accurate as they are very much the wine maker's wine maker. They are underappreciated to a certain extent though, and that's good for us as we can get our hands on more! Tim and Jill Matthiasson are the husband and wife team behind the label. White Wine is in many ways the wine that kickstarted the modern American wine revolution. A blend, utilising Bordeuax White varieties, it is long with depth but also great freshness. An aromatic nose of jasmine, orange peel, pink grapefruit and wet stone. Medium-bodied with lovely mineral character. Well balanced, with some tannin structure. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (93 Points, James Suckling). Linda Vista Chardonnay is Intense and fresh with nice bright apple and citrus, as well as some richer pear notes and some white peach. There’s a gentle spiciness from the oak. Nice harmony, good acidity and a tapering mineral finish. (94 Points, Decanter Magazine). The Cabernet Sauvignon is Lovely aromas of roses, red cherries, melted chocolate and redcurrants. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. A lot of freshness and energy here. Pretty is a good word. Bright red fruit and rose petals. From organically grown grapes.( 93 Points, James Suckling)
