Electric 6: RED - Best of 2023 6-Pack

€110.00
This is our ELECTRIC 6: BEST WINES OF 2023 (RED WINE). There were 3 seriously stand out producers (very much according to you too, as they were HUGE sellers), but there are some other beauties too, as long as many more that narrowly missed out....or sold out!

Arrocal Ribera del Duero Roble landed on us in January and knocked our socks off. Blatantly a rip off of the famous Vega Sicilia packaging, but we found it much more stylish that than the examples proliferating the market at the moment. Whos says the French can't do edgy and cool? Valerie Courreges 'Zinzolin' is a modern take on the most stuffy of styles: Cahors. This is Malbec with a twist of Syrah and Merlot, uber-concentrated and perfumed. Uva Non Grata defo wines the most smashable red wine of the year award, made from Gamay, it's so much fun to drink. Caruso & Minini 'Frapello' is a Frapatto/Nerello Mascalese blend (see what they did there?!) from the Caruso sisters, and is another bottle that will go very quick. Carl Koch Spatburgunder knocked our socks off, the German iteration of Pinot Noir proving every bit as enigmatic and captivating as French, light, savoury, raspy fruit, beautifully balanced. Last though, with a bullet, and our wine of the year overall: Rudolphe Demougeot Bourgogne Cote d'Or Pinot Noir. Made on a plot next to the Morgeot (red) Premier Cru vineyard in Chassagne Montrachet, confoundingly, this wine drinks amazingly well now, if I had a cellar or self control I'd love to put some down to see what it will do.
