The Kinder Way to Drink Wine
Did you know that the majority of wine is drunk within a year of bottling. We don’t think that justifies all of the bottles, corks, labels, capsules and closures, do you? We tasked ourselves with finding a more sustainable way to transport and supply wine and the solution became rapidly clear - kegs! A 20 litre keg of wine is the equivalent of 26.6 bottles and wine, and reduces packaging waste by 94% so to put that into context, in 2019 alone, we took over 375 tonnes of glass out of the recycling chain.
REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
But it doesn’t end with reducing waste. We can fit twice as much wine on a truck when it’s packaged in a keg instead of a bottle. That literally means that Winelab puts half as many trucks on the road as our bottle-only counterparts, and reduces the carbon footprint for our customers by an average of 20%.
CLOSED-LOOP RECYCLING
In the past year we’ve introduced circular recycling, which sees our used kegs collected, crushed and sent back to the manufacturer to be turned into new ones, bringing our wine on tap systems even closer to zero waste. We’re currently servicing Dublin, Louth, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Kildare, Laois, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wicklow, Tipperary, Galway and Westport but if you’d like to find out more about our Wine-on-tap offering, email us on info@winelab.ie
